We congratulate Nonceba Bonelwa for passing matric at the age of 39. After having failed grade 11 twice, Nonceba dropped out of school in 2005 and began working. However as time passed she realised that to provide for her daughter properly, she needed to get her matric so that she could have better opportunities.
It wasn’t easy going back to school – two schools rejected her before Ekuphumleni High School saw her drive to complete her schooling and accepted her. A lot of comments were made by those around her and getting back into learning was difficult. But after a bumpy first term, Nonceba’s determination and dedication started to pay off. Through attending extra classes and reaching out to fellow classmates and teachers, she began to pull her marks up.
Now she has obtained a diploma pass for her matric and plans to study further. We are proud of you, Nonceba, and hope you go on to achieve whatever else you set your mind to!
